Friends International

Friends International

Friends International is one of a number of charities that St John’s supports, Our link is that Matthew Brindley, a member of our congregation, is spending two years working with them in Newcastle.

About Friends International

Friends International exists to give international students a great time in the UK, chances to experience real British culture, and opportunities to hear about the Christian faith. Over 450,000 international students come to the UK from across the world, and there is incredible potential for the Gospel to transform the students’ lives during their time here, and for them to take it back and build the church in their home countries across the world – places otherwise very difficult to reach!

The charity aims to facilitate this by building friendships with international students during their time in the UK, running activities and weekend retreats, and inviting students into 1-to-1 Bible studies and discipleship opportunities.

Our Support for Friends International

Matthew Brindley, a member of our congregation who has just finished university, will be working day to day with students in Newcastle, helping to organise the weekly “Globe” international cafe, leading English conversation groups and Bible studies, and working with the local church to grow international student ministry. If you’d like to be kept in the loop with prayer and news updates, please email matthewbrindley@live.co.uk.
