Newborn Meals
What is the newborn meals project?
We provide families who have newborn babies with 2 weeks of evening meals to help them overcome the difficulties of juggling a new born baby with cooking.
We love families at St John’s, and we know that babies are both exciting and exhausting. It can be really difficult to fit in time to cook when you are up with the baby all night, changing countless nappies, and getting acquainted with your new bundle of joy.
How to receive support from the project
We are so happy to help you in those early days!
For further details about how you can sign up to receive support or to cook meals for new parents, please contact Sacha Sheppard at sacha.sheppard@gmail.com
How can you offer to cook meals?
We use a simple website called www.foodtidings.com which is set up especially for this purpose and people can sign up to a date that is convenient. We have managed to support many families during their first few weeks and they are always so appreciative.
On occasions we have also managed to provide meals for people who are unwell and for other families with new babies in the community who come to Playtime.
What do I cook?
Anything! Most of us cook an evening meal so why not make double one day and put it in the freezer so it is ready at a moments notice? It doesn’t have to be anything fancy just a normal evening meal. e.g. Spaghetti Bolognese, Lasagne, Chicken curry, whatever!
We would love to expand with your help
We would love to be able to expand this wonderful service to not only people who have had babies, but to those who are unwell and more families in the local community such as those who come to Playtime. To do this we need a few more people who would be willing to cook. It is only one meal occasionally so please contact sacha.sheppard@gmail.com or the church office if you can help out.
